I want to talk for a minute about Christmas gifts! So many times during the Holidays we give gifts and receive gifts that we don't necessarily want or like. I definitely want to talk about the fun stuff!
I participated in a Secret Santa gift exchange this year. And it was a big group and so I didn't know the person I drew or the person who drew me. So when I was looking for what to put on my wish list I wasn't really sure what to put on it. So I put some cheaper Loungefly bags that I wanted. Because I thought maybe I should put things that I would want but not necessarily buy for myself.
Also when I was choosing gifts for my draw I looked at what she had and information I was able to gather about her and choose her gift!
Anyway back to what I put on my list. I came across this ice cream maker and thought "that would be a fun gift. I've never had an ice cream maker". So I added it. When I opened it I got so excited! I pulled out the instructions and figured out how to put it together and what I would need to use it!
So I had to buy salt. I know that's probably weird but we don't use regular table salt. Both David and I have high blood pressure and we use sea salt and very little of it to season food. So I had to buy a thing of salt because you have to put salt in with the ice because salt makes the ice colder so it can freeze the liquid you put in!
I found this Peppermint Eggnog from Danzeisen's Dairy I took Brach's Peppermint Candy and mixed it into the Peppermint Eggnog. I put this mixture into the freezer container, added the spatula thing and the motor to the top and plugged it in!
It started to whir and occasionally kinda move around.
Then after about 30 minutes I checked it and it was almost done! It was the consistency of soft serve. So I let it go a little longer and then voila! It was a thicker more ice cream consistency. It was late so we put it in the freezer and the next day....
It was so good! Very pepperminty and definitely eggnoggy! Most of all very creamy!
David and I were discussing, after making it, we needed some ice cream containers so we can make multiple flavors at a time so I went on Amazon and found these 1 quart ice cream containers! I ordered them and we will be making more ice cream in the near future!
